Test results

Our tests are designed to show common VPN leaks, but no online test can guarantee that your connection is private. Results depend on your device, browser, network and VPN settings at the moment you run the test, and on third-party data about who owns an IP address, which is sometimes out of date or wrong. A clean result does not prove that you are safe, and a warning does not always mean that something is broken. Use the results as a guide, not as a guarantee.

Guides and information

Our guides are written for general information. Apps and operating systems change often, so a setting may have moved or changed name since we wrote a guide. Make changes to your device at your own risk, and check your VPN provider’s own help pages when in doubt. Nothing on this site is legal, security or professional advice.

Affiliate disclosure

VPN Leak Checker is independent and free to use. Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you click one and buy a product, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These commissions help pay for the site. They never change a test result, and our tests work the same whichever VPN you use.

Trademarks

VPN names and logos mentioned on this site, such as NordVPN, Surfshark, ExpressVPN and Mullvad, belong to their owners. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by these companies unless we say so clearly.

Lawful use

Our tests and guides help you check your own privacy. Using a VPN is legal in most countries, but not in all of them. You are responsible for following the laws that apply to you, including when using a VPN or torrent client.
